Commitment 1: Self

This commitment relates to each man/woman/person on Earth regardless of age, colour, nationality, religion or politics. It accepts that we are all born with nothing (except parental inheritance) and we leave with nothing material. As one of the 6 billion people on Earth, we appreciate that our life style needs to adjust to the Earth’s finite resources whether we are in a developed or developing country.

We agree that a new moral approach to our use of the Earth’s finite life system is needed and that a global transition must be achieved within our three generations, that is, by 2050.

The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights provides a solid basis for us all to follow, no matter in what part of which continent we live.

The points below are for each of us to consider and adapt according to our circumstances as we gradually adopt a Zero Footprint Lifestyle within the present three generations.

1.1 I will endeavour to: live by the UN Declaration of Human Rights.

1.2 Endeavour to encourage rather than destroy biodiversity on Earth.

1.3 Ensure that I do not to pollute the air, water and soil of our Earth.

1.4 Reuse and recycle all non-renewable products.

1.5 Use only renewable energy.

1.6 Eat mainly organic/local produce.

1.7 Reduce my energy needs and adopt low energy products.

1.8 Walk, cycle and use public transport as often as possible.

1.9 Shop and invest only in ethical products join a charity and do voluntary work.

1.10 Understand, appreciate and work with people of both sexes, all generations, followers of different political and religious creeds and people from other countries and continents for the betterment of all humanity.
